Bruce Lazear is the Founding Partner of Lazear Capital Partners, Ltd. (Lazear). He established the firm in 1999 to fill a gap in the marketplace for a middle-market financial advisory firm dedicated to helping entrepreneurial owners navigate mergers and acquisitions (“M&A”).
From the beginning, Lazear’s mission has been to maximize value creation for clients—many of whom are selling a business for the first and only time.
Because most business owners spend their careers building a single company, Bruce believes it’s essential that, when the time comes to transition ownership, they have deeply experienced advisors capable of delivering maximum value. He is passionate about representing owners in the most important transaction of their lives and achieving exceptional outcomes.
Bruce has extensive merger and acquisition experience, with a key focus on assisting business owners in the sale of their companies. Over his 30-year career, he has led the negotiation of more than 300 transactions, including buy-side, sell-side, ESOP, and management buyout engagements. His greatest strengths lie in negotiation and in his deep understanding of the technical factors that drive value. He has also managed numerous distressed company transactions, resulting in recapitalizations, going-concern sales, and liquidations, as well as corporate finance transactions that support the firm’s M&A activities.
Bruce is an attorney and earned his JD from The Ohio State University College of Law. He received his BA in Economics, magna cum laude, with Honors in Liberal Arts and Distinction in Economics from The Ohio State University.
