Steve leads Lazear’s healthcare practice in the Houston market while extending his expertise to business owners nationwide, helping them navigate complex financial, operational, and strategic decisions. He brings extensive leadership and technical expertise across healthcare M&A, performance improvement, technology, operations, accounting and reporting, and governance, supporting both owners and management teams.

Prior to joining Lazear, Steve spent 37 years at Deloitte, where he served as Vice Chairman and USA Healthcare Practice Leader across consulting, audit, and tax practices. As a Consulting Partner, he advised both the largest and most complex healthcare organizations as well as smaller post-acute, long-term care, skilled nursing, and senior living companies. He has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, including tax planning, deal structuring, and negotiations, making him uniquely qualified to guide healthcare business owners through successful transactions.

Steve has significant experience leading healthcare transactions and advising sellers on all aspects of deals, including regulatory, Corporate Practice of Medicine, and Stark compliance. He has also helped develop proprietary structures and solutions tailored to healthcare entities, maximizing value while minimizing tax and transaction costs.

Steve earned a BA in Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara, completed a Management Program at Columbia University, and is a Certified Public Accountant.
