Ty Phillips is a Managing Director at Lazear, leading the firm’s presence in Omaha, advising business owners nationwide on ESOP ownership transitions. With more than 15 years in commercial banking and nearly three decades in consultative sales, he works closely with privately held companies, navigating succession planning, liquidity needs, and long-term transition planning.

Throughout his career, Ty has developed extensive experience helping middle-market business owners address the financial and strategic complexities of ownership transitions, management buyouts, recapitalizations, and growth initiatives. His background spans asset-based lending (ABL), treasury management, commercial lending, supply chain finance, and structured capital solutions, giving him a strong understanding of the financial and operational considerations involved in ESOP transactions.

Prior to joining Lazear, Ty spent more than 15 years with Wells Fargo Commercial Banking as the Senior Vice President, Business Development Officer. His experience working with management teams, investment banks, and capital providers on complex financing and buyout strategies gives him a valuable perspective when helping owners and their advisors evaluate and execute ESOP transactions.

Earlier in his career, Ty held leadership and business development roles with First National Bank of Omaha, GE Capital Solutions, and CitiCapital Commercial Corporation.

Ty earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Marketing from the University of North Texas.
